VK9C, COCOS KEELING ISLANDS (Update/Reminder). Operators Phil/G3SWH and Jim/G3RTE will be
active from West Island in the Cocos (Keeling) Islands between February 22nd and March 5th.
The Cocos (Keeling) Islands count as OC-003 for IOTA purposes.
The 2010 "Most Wanted" survey by the DX Magazine shows the Cocos (Keeling) Islands at #76
worldwide for DXCC purposes.
Both operators will use the single callsign of VK9C/G6AY. Their activity will be on CW only on all bands
80-10 meters. There will be no 160, 6 meters or EME activity. Propagation permitting, they plan to have
two stations on the air for as many hours every day as is possible. Their main objective is to work as
many European, North American and ROTW stations on as many different bands as possible and
plan to make at least 15,000 QSOs. QSL via G3SWH, either direct with SAE and adequate return
postage (recommended), via Phil's web site for a bureau reply or via the Bureau.
This will be a very expensive DXpedition. They are happy to meet the costs of transport to and from
the islands, but are seeking sponsorship and donations from individuals, DX clubs and organizations
towards their living expenses on the island, printing QSLs and the like.
